Causal organism : Bhendi yellow vein mosaic virus.
Symptoms
- Yellowing of veins is the main symptom of this disease.
- In severe infection the younger leaves become yellow, decrease their size and the plant is highly stunted.
- The intervenal(area between the veins) area becomes completely yellow or white and vein clearing can be seen.
- The infection may start at any stage of plant growth and the plants may become diseased.
- Infection inhibits(stops) flowering and fruiting. If formed, may be smaller in size and harder.
- The affected plants produce fruits with yellow or white colour.
- Whitefly is the vectoe of this virus.
Management
Application of chlorpyriphos @ 2.5ml
Use insecticides like Acetamaprid and Difenthrin
In severe conditions we can use insecticides like Pyriproxifen and Sefina.
