Are pear shaped, light yellowish in colour

Nymphs

 Are oval, scale-like and greenish white in colour

Adult

Are white, tiny and scale-like

Management

  • Use yellow sticky traps at 12/ha to attract and kill insects.
  • Apply carbofuran 3% G @ 40 kg /ha
  • Use insecticides like Acetamaprid
  • Use Pyriproxyfen
  • Afidopyropen 50
  • Dimethoate at 1ml/lit

SERPENTINE LEAF MINOR

Causal organism: Liriomyza trifolii

Symptoms of damage

  • Leaves are full of serpentine mines
  • It causes drying and dropping of leaves
  • Loss of yield

           Are yellow in colour and are hatched on leaf epidermis of plants

Larva

Are minute orange yellowish in colour and legless maggots

Pupa

Are yellowish brown in colour and pupates within mines

Are pale yellow in colour

Causal organism: Helicoverpa armigera

Symptoms of damage

  • Young larva feeds on tender leaves.
  • Mature larva makes circular holes
  • Inserts only a part of its body into fruit and eats the inner content

Are are creamy white in colour and laid singly

Larva

They showcolour variation from greenish to brown

 It has dark brown grey lines on the body with lateral white lines and also has dark band 

Pupa

Arebrown in colour and found in soil, leaf, pod and crop debris 

Adult

Female is light pale brownish yellow stout moth

Male is pale greenish moth and has V shaped speck.

  • Forewings:Areolive green to pale brown in colour with a dark brown circular spot in the centre
  • Hindwings: Are pale smoky white with a broad blackish outer margin
